Friends and supporters,

The Historical Society & Museum of CDF/Cal Fire is reaching out for assistance to help acquire an important and unique piece of the history of CDF/Cal Fire.  Many of you are already familiar with the labors of love by our late brother Steve Huntington.  Steve left a legacy of service that will be tough to match

One of Steve’s last endeavors was the restoration of a 1934 Ford fire engine built for CDF. With his own finances, he purchased and completed a bolt-by-bolt, piece-by-piece restoration of his fire engine. He not only acquired and restored the engine, but he also researched and documented the engine’s history down to the very last detail. He made sure the engine was equipped as it was when it was in service.

Steve’s family is now giving the museum the opportunity to acquire this important piece of our history and a lasting tribute to Steve’s unselfish commitment to keep the rich history of CDF/Cal Fire at the forefront.

The Historical Society & Museum of CDF/Cal Fire is seeking contributions for the acquisition of the fire engine. Adding this particular engine will provide a much-needed piece to the museum’s collection indicative of the department during the 1930’s and an early piece of mobile equipment. It will honor Steve’s work to preserve our history.

It should be noted that Steve collaborated with the Cal Fire Local 2881 Firefighters and Cal Fire staff in all of his endeavors including his work on this piece of our history. Steve made all his collections available for the 25 Year Club, our union and numerous static displays. Steve’s engine had the honor of carrying the urn of Past President Bob Wolf in the procession to Bob’s memorial services in Sacramento.

All contributions designated for the acquisition of the 1934 Ford fire engine formerly owned and restored by ret. Fire Captain Steven Huntington will be used solely for the purchase and maintenance of Steve’s fire engine. The Museum has committed to funding a portion of the acquisition costs, but we need your help to reach our goal.

This is a one-time opportunity and a high priority goal of the museum board. The museum is a 501(c)(3) charity and contributions are tax deductible. We have a short time frame to make this happen. Contributions in any amount are welcome and can be mailed to:
