UPDATE – Huntington’s 1934 CDF Firetruck
August 20, 2025
The day has arrived!
Those of you who participated in our fundraiser to support acquiring the Huntington fire truck will be pleased to hear we have settled the deal and we took possession today.
Our sincerest thanks go out to all our generous supporters who made it possible for us to purchase this special bit of CalFire history. The museum was able to raise about 75% of the negotiated price (based on its current condition) and we allocated operating budget money towards the remainder.

One of Steve’s last endeavors was the restoration of a 1934 Ford fire engine built for CDF. With his own finances, he purchased and completed a bolt-by-bolt, piece-by-piece restoration of his fire engine.
Steve and his sons (along with other friends and helpers) completed a restoration from the frame up. Original parts were used as much as possible to replicate its 1934 condition from obtaining a replacement front bumper to locating authentic rear tail lights.
You may know, it has been in storage for over two years and has gathered some dust and cobwebs. Additionally we understand there is a mechanical issue with the engine, and it may need some elbow grease and a good wax job before it will be showroom ready again. It has been trailered to So Cal in the care of our Treasurer, Ray Snodgrass, who will also be giving it a good once over to see what it needs to get back into shape for display or parade purposes.

If you would like to contribute to the refurbishing and maintenance of this little gem, we will keep the fundraiser buttons active on our Square gift shop page and our website for a bit longer, and any additional money collected will support our restoration efforts.
All remaining contributions designated for the acquisition of the 1934 Ford fire engine formerly owned by ret. Fire Captain Steven Huntington will be used solely for the repair and maintenance of Steve’s fire engine. The museum is a 501(c)(3) charity and contributions are tax deductible. Contributions in any amount are welcome and can be mailed to:
